Signs You May Have Burst Pipes in Your Home

by Nicholas Chambers

Although they are an inconvenience, plumbing problems are something that homeowners cannot avoid. Due to the daily use of your plumbing system for a myriad of applications in your residence, it is only a matter of time before one of the components succumbs to wear and tear. The thing to note though is that it is best to detect plumbing problems as they arise, as this will save you from extensive damages and exorbitant costs in repairs. One of the more serious plumbing problems you could be faced with a burst pipes. Here are some signs to look out for that will indicate you require the services of an emergency plumber like Plumbers WA & Co.

Bubbling sounds emanating from your plumbing system

If you run water from the tap or flush your toilet and hear a distinct bubbling sound emanating from your plumbing, this indicates trapped air that does not have an escape route. Typically, this is caused by a pipe that has broken hence impeding the water and airflow. It is best to call in an emergency plumber post haste to address the problem.

Whistling sounds emanating from your plumbing system

In the event that one of the pipes in your plumbing system becomes dented, it reduces the diameter that water and air has to flow through it. When the water volume is being impeded, you may notice whistling sounds coming from your plumbing system. If this is left unchecked, the excessive water volume can eventually burst the pipe, as the passageway will be too small to tolerate the pressure of the water. To avoid a plumbing emergency it is best to have a plumber come and rectify the problem before it is too late.

Foul odours emanating from your plumbing system

Your plumbing system should never smell foul. The moment you start experiencing foul odours emanating from it, then your system could be seriously compromised. If the foul odours are concentrated on the lower levels of your home, chances are than one of your sewer pipes has burst or sprung a leak. This means that septic waste is not being properly eliminated and you would require emergency plumbing repair as soon as possible. Foul odours should always be taken seriously, as they could lead to larger problems. For instance, if left unchecked then you could end up having your main water line polluted with septic contaminants and this will put your entire household at risk of illness. It is always best to have a professional take a look at the problem post haste.

About Me

Unblocking the toilet

If I didn't know better, I'd think my toddler started each day with a challenge to throw something new and different down the toilet. He has managed to put nearly anything can imagine down the toilet. I have gotten pretty good at figuring out what has gone missing down the loo and whether it's something I can fix or something that I need to call the plumber to help me fix it. This blog is for other mums of toddlers who need to get toys out of the toilet and get the toilet back to working condition as soon as possible!
